I’ve waved my last white flag
My heart has left my body so I don’t feel that ache anymore
If I’m so beautiful and smart and perfect
But unworthy of something real
Then let them gaze at my beauty
Let their mouths water with lust as their eyes mark my every curve
And may their claws remain outside the cage that I have built over the years
A cage that I call freedom.
I think there are a lot of women that have dealt with this same feeling. Women and men can treat someone who is beautiful differently. When I asked him about the man who hired a woman who I should have been doing the hiring for the replacement of the person who left, he told me that the woman was too beautiful and the men were hanging around her desk instead of working. She was indeed beautiful and a very hard worker. I told him that it wasn’t something that was her problem, that he needed to talk to the men and tell them to leave her alone and let her do her work. I understand your poem. Good for you. Hugs, Joni

I am so happy that you have such a deep understanding to my poem. And I sometimes feel like I’m the woman in the scenario you just gave.
Thank you again
